Investigate what happens in a KS2 science lesson when the techniques of formative assessment are applied to a revision lesson on light Education expert Professor Paul Black has evidence to show that getting the children to do the majority of the work in a classroom leads to significant school improvement. In this second programme filmed at Two Waters Primary School in Hertfordshire, assessment co-ordinator Marziya Panju reviews the lesson taught by Julia Turner which featured in the first programme, 'Formative Assessment 1'. Marziya discusses with Julia how the children have been given responsibility for their own learning. They review clips of the children working in small groups, choosing their own resources and going out of the classroom to use the library and ICT suite. The lesson review is enhanced with commentary from Paul Black on the effectiveness and implementation of formative assessment.
