Teaching Second Language gives comprehensive knowledge of L2 reading and reading instruction with key notions of this area such as "schema," "genre," "reading skills" or "reading strategies." Students will study and discuss many facets of teaching second language reading

차시별 강의

1.	What is reading?	This week discusses nature of reading and L2 reading process.
2.	Top-down vs. Bottom-up processing	This week deals with the basic concept of reading process: bottom-up, top-down, and The Interactive approach
3.	Principles of teaching L2 reading	In this week four principles of teaching L2 reading (williams, 1986) are introduced
4.	Learning to recognize and spell words	This week discusses the lower-level skills of reading, word recognition skills.
5.	Reading skills	This week introduces various types of reading skills.
6.	Strategies and metacognitive skills	This week discusses the concept of reading comprehension strategies
7.	Metacognition and reading	This week deals with the key findings of metacognition and reading in L2
8.	Intensive and Extensive Reading	In this week intensive and extensive reading are compared and contrasted with examples
9.	Reading Faster	This week discusses the nature of reading speed and introduces fast reading activites.
10.	Schema in L2 Reading	This week discusses two types of reading schema: content scheama and formal schema
