The role of religion in schooling is rarely out of the headlines. Controversial faith schools and religious academies have raised fears about community cohesion and covert selection. Schools are still required to include a collective act of worship of a Christian nature, despite Britain's multi-faith and no-faith society. Claims by some religious educationalists that faith is the best way to pass on moral values is challenged by others in schools who believe that religious morality is out of date and even dangerous. To debate these issues, Jonathan Dimbleby is joined by a panel including Prof. Richard Dawkins and Schools Select Committee Chairman Barry Sheerman MP. Alongside them will be a group of expert witnesses and a studio audience of all the major faiths.
